I love anything that makes being in the kitchen easier. When I was teaching I made bread once a week (with the kids) for over 5 years. There is something very therapeutic about getting your hands in some dough. But now at this stage of my life simplicity is more important. That's why I love my bread machine. I have a Hamilton Beach bread machine that makes up to a 2lb loaf with lots of other features. The link for the machine I have is below:

The recipe I'm sharing here is something I made for the first time. It came out with mixed reviews - my husband loved it and for me - not so much. But I thought I would share it to give you an idea of the versatility of the machine. Like all of my recipes it calls for basic ingredients that are usually pantry staples except for maybe yeast - which I keep in my fridge.
To make Chocolate Chip Loaf you will need:
1 cup milk
1 egg
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup butter, softened
3 cups flour (all purpose is fine)
1 cup chocolate chips (I used dark chocolate)
2 tsp yeast
Add all the ingredients to the bread maker in the order listed. Set the machine for 1 1/2 pound loaf with a light crust.
If you don't have a bread machine you can still make this by hand.
Warm the milk and then add the sugar and yeast. In another bowl add the flour, cocoa powder and salt. Once the dry ingredients are combined add the wet ingredients and the butter. Mix until just combined. Do NOT over mix. Then fold in the chocolate chips. Put the mixture into a buttered loaf pan. Bake at 350ยบ for 25-35 minutes. Check with a toothpick to see if the loaf is done.
This makes great toast or just warm it in a pan then spread with cream cheese. If you try this be sure to let me know.
Do you have a bread machine? What brand? Do you love it or hate it?
I'd love to know.
